OIMB Public Lecture: Burke Hales, "Acidification, carbon fluxes and hypoxia: Lessons from carbon cycle studies of Oregon coastal waters"
Date: 07/22/09 7pm
Location: Boathouse Auditorium, Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston, Oregon
Attendance: Open to all

Oregon’s ocean is experiencing change. Water that upwells seasonally along the West Coast of North America is growing increasingly acidic, according to a survey conducted in 2007 by an international team of scientists. One of those scientists, Dr. Burke Hales, Associate Professor, College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, Oregon State University will give a public lecture on Wednesday July 22 at 7 pm about the changing ocean in Oregon and the consequences for marine life. His talk, titled, "Acidification, carbon fluxes and hypoxia: Lessons from carbon cycle studies of Oregon coastal waters" will be held at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Boathouse. Park at OIMB and walk down Boat Basin Drive past the Coast Guard housing.
