COSEE-Pacific Partnerships PRIME 2009 - 06.21.2009

This summer, COSEE-Pacific Partnerships will support six community college student interns through the Promoting Research Investigations in the Marine Environment (PRIME) program. PRIME interns develop research, communication, and outreach skills through hands-on experiences working with scientists and informal educators. Interns also learn about the wide range of marine science careers. Four students from community colleges in Oregon will work on science research and/or science interpretation projects with mentors at the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, University of Oregon's Institute of Marine Biology, and Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center from June 21-August 15. Two students from community colleges in Washington will work on research projects at Western Washington University's Shannon Point Marine Center from June 28-August 22.
