David Lonsdale, Biology Instructor, Chemeketa Community College, participated in the Coastal Biology of Oregon course at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) in summer 2008.
He offers the following about his experience: "In order to present a course that was meaningful to community college students, I needed to draw on concepts that were readily illustrated on the Oregon coastline providing students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge to a local environment. In 2008 I participate in OIMB’s two week Coastal Biology of Oregon course. I couldn’t have asked for a better match to my needs.
The instructors were extremely knowledgeable, gracious and enthusiastic teachers. They had the ability to bring field biology to life; connecting the earth's physical systems with what happens biologically along the coast.
Life on the OIMB campus was also comfortable. The dorms were clean and spacious and cafeteria food was plentiful and tasty."
