10.01.2011 - This past year the COSEE Pacific Partnerships Team has concentrated on refining our core work of connecting scientists with community college faculty and students. In addition, we have explored ways to effectively use concept mapping as a tool for assisting scientists and educators to improve their communication skills, develop action plans for their education activities, and produce programming and messaging for a variety of audiences.  MORE >>
08.08.2011 - This workshop at the University of California Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science is designed for scientist/science educator teams that are interested in team teaching the Communicating Ocean Sciences courses (COS-K12 &/or COSIA) for undergraduate &/or graduate science students.  MORE >>
05.26.2011 - What started as two separate tools - the Ocean Climate Interactive and the Concept Map Builder - have now been merged, with many added capabilities, into a new application called the Concept Linked Integrated Media Builder, or CLIMB for short.  MORE >>
05.12.2011 - Only One Ocean, the new Banana Slug String Band children's music CD that features 14 songs about Ocean Literacy, has just won a prestigious 2011 Parents' Choice Award. Only One Ocean is also getting a Starred Review in the upcoming School Library Journal, and it will be featured on the next Ocean Gazing Podcast from COSEE NOW (see http://coseenow.net/). The accolades for this new release keep pouring in. The CD is a major element of the Ocean Literacy Campaign, the grass-roots movement to increase public understanding of the importance of the ocean in our everyday lives and to the health of the planet. Lawrence Hall of Science/COSEE California led the partnership between the Banana Slugs and several ocean sciences education organizations that resulted in the CD.  MORE >>

06.21.2009 - The 2009 Promoting Research Investigations in the Marine Environment (PRIME) summer internship program for community college students begins Monday, June 22 in Oregon and Monday, June 29 in Washington and runs through August.  MORE >>
11.01.2008 - COSEE-Pacific Partnerships will sponsor a one-day workshop at the Northwest Biology Instructors' Organization (NWBIO) annual meeting to be held May 1-3, 2009 at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, OR.  MORE >>
10.18.2008 - The new COSEE exhibit had its debut at the 2008 annual meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science. This annual meeting brings together scientists, graduate students, undergraduate students, teachers, and high school students in a highly interactive environment. The COSEE exhibit was well received and many undergraduates stopped to speak with us about careers in ocean science research.  MORE >>

08.15.2008 - Community college student and faculty participants in the COSEE-Pacific Partnerships' Promoting Research Investigations in the Marine Environment (PRIME) summer program will give their final project presentations on Friday, Aug 15, 2008 at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon.
